나의 그림에는 가만히 있는 나무가 없습니다. 말을 걸고, 움직이며, 하늘로 오르다 은하수가 되어갑니다. 나무는 해, 달, 별, 가로등의 빛을 받아 반사하고, 나는 그 속에서 희망과 변화의 가능성을 보았습니다. 그림 속 풍경들은 ‘지금, 여기’에서 시작되는 용기를 보여줍니다.

세상은 끊임없이 변하고 불확실하기에 사람들은 서로를 도우며 살아야 한다고 말해왔습니다. 그러나 현실은 여전히 치열한 승자 독식의 세계였습니다. 하지만 죽을 힘을 다해 달리다 문득 옆을 보았을 때, 마주한 이가 ‘나 자신’이라면 이야기는 달라집니다. 일상의 나무, 별, 하늘은 있는 그대로이면서 동시에 내밀한 의미를 품습니다. 운이 좋으면 언어를 넘어 본연에 닿는 순간이 찾아오고, 그 끝에는 늘 같은 질문이 남습니다. “그래서 어떻게 살 거니?” 나의 그림은 그에 대한 대답의 한 방식입니다.

회화는 늘 개인의 성찰과 타인과의 관계를 함께 물었고, 이번에는 ‘회복력’으로 답했습니다. 흩날리다 이내 쌓여 빛나는 눈송이에서 나는 꺼지지 않는 힘을 보았습니다. 나의 독백과 기록은 결국 ‘사람들’이 나누어 준 언어와 지식에서 비롯된 것이었음을 깨닫습니다. 우리는 시선과 경험을 건네며, 그렇게 서로에게 울타리가 됩니다. ‘가능한 풍경’을 통해 각자 씩씩하게, 또 함께 단단하게 살아가는 힘을 나누고 싶습니다. 그림 속 풍경들이 열어줄 가능성과, 우리가 발견하게 될 저마다의 풍경을 기대합니다.


In my paintings, no tree stands still. They speak, move, rise toward the sky, and sometimes become the Milky Way. Reflecting the light of the sun, moon, stars, and street lamps, they hold within them hope and the possibility of change. The landscapes in my work convey the courage to begin ‘here and now’.

The world is in constant change and uncertainty, and we are told that people must live by helping one another. Yet the reality remains a fierce, winner‑takes‑all world. But if, while running without pause, I suddenly glimpse the person at my side and realize it is myself, the story changes. The trees, stars, and sky I encounter in daily life appear as they are, yet also carry deeper meanings. At rare moments, when I am fortunate, I sense a pure connection beyond language—and it always leaves me with the same question: “So, how will you live?” My paintings are my way of answering that question.

For me, painting has always raised questions about personal reflection and my relationship with others. This time, my answer is ‘resilience’. The murmurs and notes I once whispered to the trees, stars, sky, and snowflakes all turned out to be born from the language and knowledge shared by people around me. In sharing our perspectives and experiences, we discover a strong and reassuring bond. Through “Possible Landscapes,” I hope to share the strength we find in living openly and steadfastly together—and I look forward to the possibilities each painting may unfold and the unique landscapes that each viewer will discover.
