가비갤러리의 첫 기획전은 회화작가 황정희의 개인전으로 그간 우리에게 익숙했던 Cool vacance 시리즈와 신작 Allegory of the moment시리즈를 모두 만날 수 있다. 작가는 자기만의 방식으로 ‘휴양지’라는 개념과 그것이 가진 ‘휴식’의 의미가 오늘날 현대인에게 던지는 메시지에 대해 고찰하고자 한다. 또한 점묘법, 사진이미지의 차용, 모더니즘과 추상표현주의의 회화형식을 조금씩 빌려와 작업에 스며들게 함으로써 다양한 실험적 태도를 드러내고 있다. 2011년 1월 5일부터 2월 13일까지 열리게 될 전시에서 한 가지 주제를 다각도에서 면밀히 관찰하며 오랜 시간 고민해 온 황정희의 작품 세계를 만날 수 있으며, 신작을 통해 또 한걸음 발을 내딛는 작가의 새로운 회화적 접근법을 감상하는 의미 있는 시간이 될 것이다.

About the Exhibition
Hwang Jeong Hee's solo exhibition will open at Gabi-gallery. The first exhibit in the new year will display Hwang's paintings, Cool vacance series and new series, the title of Allegory of the moment. Hwang considers in her own way, the mean of 'vacation spot' and 'vacation' give the message to modern people in these days. And she said in artist's note, that she has borrowed many forms of painting; pointage, photographic images, modernism, abstract expressionism. It shows her various experimental attitude. From 5 January to 13 February 2011, the exhibition will be hold. It'll be definitely a meaningful time to meet the world of hwang's works, that she has viewed the theme from various angles for a long time. You'll can appreciate the new approach of painting in her new works.
