플로어는 2월 12일부터 3월 21일까지 공모전에서 선정된 작품들을 모아 그룹전 “LOST”를 선보인다. 이번 전시를 통해 국내외 다양한 배경을 가진 17명의 시각예술 작가들의 사진, 영상, 설치 등을 포함한 작품들을 소개한다.
렌즈 베이스 미디어를 위한 프로젝트 공간인 플로어의 첫 공모전은 사진의 근본적인 기능과 정의에 대한 질문에서 시작한다. 사람들은 카메라라는 도구를 이용해 잃고 싶지 않은 일상의 순간들을 기록하고, 간직하며 기억한다. 렌즈 베이스 미디어는 종종 사라지는 순간을 기록하는 가장 간편하면서도 보편적인 보존의 방법으로 여겨진다. 하지만 손쉽게 기록을 남길 수 있어 어쩌면 우리는 더 쉽게 이미지로 기록된 것들을 잊을 때도 있다.
전시에 참여하는 17명의 작가들은 자신만의 시각 언어를 통해 상실에 대한 다양한 접근법과 시선을 보여준다. 작가들이 살아오면서 경험한 상실과 렌즈를 통해 기록하는 과정에서 겪은 상실의 과정 등 다양한 형태의 상실을 표현한 작품들을 한 공간에 모아 전시함으로써 “LOST”는 관객에게 상실에 대한 다양한 관점을 시각적으로 보여주고자 한다.


“FLOOR_” presents its first open-call group exhibition, "LOST", from February 12 to March 21, 2022. The exhibition features a wide range of lens-based media artworks including photography, video and installation, by 17 artists coming from different countries with diverse cultural and artistic backgrounds.
As a lens-based art space, “FLOOR_” intends to question the fundamental function and definition of photography through its first open call. People often utilize camera devices to record, keep, and remember slices of the moments in our daily lives. As a result, lens-based media is considered the easiest and most popular method of preservation. Ironically, because lens-based media takes over our visual senses and easily replaces our memory, people may tend to forget what they want to keep and remember.
The 17 artists in the exhibition use their visual language to illustrate how they respond to the idea of “loss” by using diverse lens-based media through their respective works. The responses originate from multiple dimensions of our life experiences: the connections among people and within places, the fragility of memories and existences and the imperfection of senses and consciousness.
"LOST" initiates and anchors a dialogue about loss among diverse artists’ artworks. By presenting a variety of creative approaches, “FLOOR_” hopes that the audience can discover, interact and open conversations about their own perspectives and presented works in the space.
